Already in the spring, Drag Zone provided me with a pair of Stamp 7 platform pedals for testing, which have now been through the more active part of the riding season, so it’s time to tell you a bit more about them.
I will start with one of the most important features of this product – the size. Pedals are a component that usually doesn’t come in sizes, but when the Stamp model was launched years ago, Crankbrothers introduced the concept of two different platform sizes, which they say provides a more adequate surface area for small or large feet. According to their recommendations, people wearing shoes up to size 42 should choose the smaller pedals (small, measuring 100x100 mm), while those with size 44 or larger are definitely for the large size (114x111 mm). Size 43 is borderline and could be used with either pedal size. In fact, there is no obstacle for each user to decide for themselves and choose a larger or smaller platform according to their priorities.
I wear size 42 shoes, so I opted for the small size. I did this not so much because of the manufacturer’s recommendation, but also out of curiosity about how such smaller surface area pedals would fit me. On the other hand, the Stamp Small are not very different in size from the previous pedals I used, so I didn’t jump into the experiment completely blindly. Overall, regarding sizing, I would say that the two Stamp options “move” not far from the medium/only size of most other manufacturers.
